Between Olsberg and Brilon

This circular tour starts at the tourist information office in Olsberg. The initial route is based on the Eisenberg, where the Phillipsstollen is a historical attraction. The Sauerland had a significant mining tradition in the 18th century. Visitors can get a vivid impression of the former conditions of underground iron ore mining in the Phillips gallery. The route continues through the striking Olsberg mountains and reaches the Hiebammen Hütte, an established meeting point. Here, both hikers on the Rothaarsteig and cyclists will find an opportunity for refreshment and relaxation. The route then descends to Brilon, whose historic old town with its characteristic town hall invites you to pause for a moment. The market square offers a variety of gastronomic options, providing a suitable basis for continuing the journey. The following sections of the route are flat on a cycle path in the direction of Altenbüren and lead from there via Antfeld back to Olsberg. The last segment of the tour follows the Ruhr Valley cycle path uphill and leads back to the starting point.

A rescue point system has been installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerland district, Märkischer district, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found on the information boards at the junctions of the South Westphalia cycle network.

A visit to the Philippstollen is an impressive experience. A visit to the Kneipp Adventure Park in Olsberg is well worthwhile.
