The Culinary Cycle Tour on Lake Möhne, a round trip with refreshment stops, starts in Körbecke, a central town in the municipality with extensive infrastructure. The route leads westwards to Westrich, through farmland above Lake Möhne, with far-reaching views of the Westphalian Sea. From the Haarstrang ridge, the highest point of the tour to Westrich, there is an extensive panoramic view. The Thing Hof in Theiningsen, a rustic café with a garden, is the destination. The return journey across the Haar in an easterly direction leads downhill to Haus Delecke, from where the riverside route continues along the water. The dam wall soon follows; its crest conveys its dimensions. The path then runs into the Hevearm and Hevesee nature reserve, an important habitat for water birds and a major migration and wintering area. Nature balconies on the Heve peninsula provide insights into the landscape and its fauna. Information stations on the water and forest nature promenade provide information about the flora, fauna and regional history. Further along the southern shore, the Stockumer Damm is passed. A stretch along the lakeside road leads to Löershof. Here, the Abel tree nursery offers regional fruit and vegetables, apple juice from its own orchards as well as wine and delicacies. The final stage concludes the tour along the lake back to Körbecke, where the Seepark offers gastronomic options and the starting point is at the Haus des Gastes.

Information

Directions

A good starting point is the Haus des Gastes in Körbecke. We follow Schützenstraße uphill for a short distance and turn left onto Daiwesweg. This becomes Kirchweg and leads to Westrich. There we keep right and cycle along the Stemmweg up to Haar and on to Thing Hof in Theiningsen. Thingstraße now leads us back, via Sankt-Agatha-Weg, further left onto Haarweg, which we quickly cross (watch out for the main road!). Following the signs, turn right onto a field path down to the shore of Lake Möhne. After about one kilometer, we reach the imposing dam wall. After crossing it, the route follows the banks of the Hevearm nature reserve to the Hevedamm. Once you reach the other side, you can take a detour to the gatehouse. We then cycle around the Heve peninsula to the southern shore of Lake Möhne. We follow the cycle path along the shore to Stockumer Damm. Back on the north side, we turn right to Löershof. The path leads us further uphill to Stockumer Weg and, turning left, we reach Körbecke again a short time later.
