This regional cycle tour in western Brilon covers a variety of landscapes, from open open spaces to dense forests, and offers attractive viewpoints. The route integrates cultural highlights with the Altebürener Mühle and the Hiebammen Hütte, which are established refreshment stops. It also leads through the characteristic Brilon districts of Altenbüren and Esshoff as a self-contained circular route.

Directions

From the starting point at Brilon market square, head west into Strackestraße until you reach cycle junction 48, then head towards cycle junction 51 (turn right into Rixener Straße). Once you reach junction 51, the cycle path continues west towards Altenbüren/junction 17, when you reach the first houses above Altenbüren after approx. 3 km, the route deviates from the official cycle path to the right, past the Aussiedlerhof farm and left to the K57. Cross this road and after approx. 2 km you will reach the Altenbürener Mühle hiking parking lot (open Wed. - Sun. from 12.00 noon). After a refreshment stop, the route continues from the parking lot in the direction of Esshoff (towards junction 19). Once in Esshoff, the route runs to the left, up the short climb towards Altenbüren.At the entrance to Altenbüren (BMS company), the route rejoins the official cycle network. Follow this through the village of Altenbüren towards Brilon as far as junction 11. At this junction, keep right past the quarry on the cycle network to the Hiebammen Hütte (opening times: Thurs. from 5.00 pm, Fri./Sat.: from 12.00 pm, Sun. from 11.00 am). The Burhagener Weg then leads back along the cycle network to cycle junction 48 and on to the starting point - the Brilon market square.
