The Meschede Hennesee Remblinghausen cycle tour is a multi-faceted circular route that leads through the striking natural and cultural landscapes of the Hochsauerland district. The starting point of this tour is the train station in Meschede. From there, the route runs over the Ruhr bridge and through the newly designed pedestrian zone in the town center to Kaiser-Otto-Platz. The bike must be pushed in this urban area. The route continues along Steinstraße, which leads to the spacious Hennepark. Alternatively, there is the Henne Boulevard, a connection from Meschede city center to the Hennesee lake. This path runs parallel to the River Henne, through the Hennepark, and provides access to the Himmelstreppe. This structure, which is accessible on foot, offers far-reaching views over the lake landscape and the town of Meschede. The route then leads along the car-free edge path along Lake Henne. The eastern shore of the lake is known for its natural tranquillity and is only accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. A special point here is the sensory trail, whose interactive stations promote the conscious perception of nature. After this section of the riverbank, the trail runs via Gut Horbach to the characteristic half-timbered village of Remblinghausen. Here, the typical Sauerland architecture, especially around the parish church of St. Jakobus, characterizes the townscape. The tour concludes with the well-maintained cycle path that leads from Remblinghausen back to Meschede. There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments along the entire circular route.
