You start at the timber and tourism center in Schmallenberg (here you can also rent e-bikes) via the SauerlandRadring through the village of Fleckenberg and on to Lenne. After Lenne, you cycle through the beautiful and quiet Uentroptal valley, past the residential area "Böhre", downhill (beware of 2 danger spots after the first house) to Oberfleckenberg, where you cross the route you have already cycled. From here you climb the first elevation with a view of Schmallenberg, the glider airfield and the farmland.Through meadows and fields along the villages of Felbecke, Selkentrop and Werntrop, you reach the highest village of Bracht. There you have the opportunity to stop and recharge your batteries at Gasthof Geueke (Kraftfutter). After Bracht you reach the zenith of the route. In good weather, you can see the valleys and ridges of the Rothaargebirge and the Homert, which converge at the Astenturm. After approx. 300 m along the L737 country road, turn right towards Herschede. There, the panorama board at the rest hut explains the location of the mountains in the Schmallenberger Sauerland and beyond. The snack station (open in the summer months, Sundays in good weather) a little further on is ideal for a break. Tip: While you take a break, you can watch the birds hunting for mice and other small animals in the meadows. After the break, cycle back approx. 700 m to the Arpe traffic sign. A steep descent awaits you as far as Arpe, where you have the opportunity to recharge your battery at Gasthof Voss and recharge your batteries for the rest of the tour. You then return to the route, which turns off to the right. Here the landscape opens up like a small high plateau. At the village of Keppel, turn left across the meadows to Niederberndorf. From here you cycle over the mountain to Mailar, where you finally reach the SauerlandRadring, which you follow turning right via the villages of Heiminghausen, Bad Fredeburg and Gleidorf to Schmallenberg. Now simply follow the SauerlandRadring logo, which is marked by a red bat. In Schmallenberg, you have the opportunity to stop off at a café or restaurant in the historic old town.
Wearing a bicycle helmet should be a matter of course for all cyclists.
Please ensure that you charge your e-bike battery in good time in one of the catering establishments mentioned.
Stop at the panorama board at the rest stop in Herschede. It provides an overview of the Sauerland mountain ranges.
