The gravel bike tour "Around Kallenhardt No. 40" leads through the extensive forest areas of the Rüthen, Brilon and Kallenhardt forests. This route presents itself as a multi-layered experience that combines both scenic beauty and cultural-historical elements. The Hohler Stein natural monument and the impressive heathland on the way back are striking points along the way. The starting point at the church in Kallenhardt leads cyclists past the elementary school and the historic town hall. The route heads west along Burgtorstraße and then heads downhill, bringing Körtlinghausen Castle into view. Before directly reaching the castle, the route branches off into the Glenne valley and winds its way along agricultural paths up to the so-called "Eulenspiegel". After crossing the L 776, the trail continues southwards along the elevations of the Kalvarienberg. In the upper section of the Glennetal valley, the river is passed again, followed by a climb before the route turns right and follows the contour lines of the Sudlindenkopf and Brilonscher Kopf. A subsequent hairpin bend leads briefly downstream before the western course is taken up at the underpass of the L 776. Here, cyclists enter the valley of a tributary stream and reach the Kallenhardt forest. Behind the spring area, the path turns north towards the edge of the forest and heads west towards the "Hoher Stein" nature reserve. At the edge of an extensive juniper heath, the culturally and historically significant natural monument "Hohler Stein" is revealed. Bypassing the limestone quarries allows a quick return to Kallenhardt from this point. A refreshment stop is available.
