The Hellweg cycle route stretches from Dortmund to the Weser on mostly traffic-free sections. Its straightforward route is flanked by a variety of gastronomy along the way. There are numerous points of attraction within the district of Soest. These include the historic town centers of Unna, Werl, Soest, Bad Sassendorf, Erwitte, Geseke and Salzkotten. The topography of the flat landscape and the presence of numerous smaller and larger towns characterize the Hellweg cycle route in the district of Soest. These conditions allow for a flexible stage design. The route planning can therefore include sections of varying character, which are enriched by far-reaching panoramic views. Characteristic church spires on the horizon act as striking landmarks.

Safety guidelines
A rescue point system has been installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerlandkreis, Märkischer Kreis, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found on the information boards at the junctions of the Südwestfalen cycle network.
Author Tip
Visit the newly designed spa gardens in Bad Sasssendorf. The new Gradierwerk has a two-level walkway inside.
