The Hochheide tour, a regional cycle tour, starts at the Haus des Gastes in Willingen and leads over the summer toboggan run, the Langenberg, through the impressive Hochheide and back over the Ettelsberg. The route, marked by the MTB route 28 signs, first leads past the summer toboggan run. This is followed by a long climb to Richtplatz and on to Langenberg, the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia. Cyclists can expect some technically challenging sections on this route. A stop at the Hochheidehütte offers an impressive panoramic view that extends as far as the Medebach Bay. This location also provides a welcome opportunity to stop for refreshments and recharge batteries, which underlines the attractiveness of the circular tour. The rest of the route leads over the Clemensberg and along the Hoppecke spring. After "zur Großen Grube", the route leaves the MTB trail and then crosses the ski lifts and the freeride trail. A short distance behind a barrier introduces a left-hand bend, from where the route leads continuously downhill back to the starting point at the Haus des Gastes. This circular route thus offers a comprehensive experience of the Willingen landscape, which is known for its versatility.
