The tour begins in Winterberg at the local tourist information office. The first section of this loop follows the R 18 bike path, circling the Kahlen Asten before reaching Westfeld. From there, the route follows the Lenne Bike Trail upstream toward the source of the Lenne River, allowing you to experience the characteristic low-mountain landscape along the stream. At the highest point near Lenneplätze, sweeping panoramic views open up, and there are also places to stop for refreshments along the route. The route then follows a section of the well-known Rothaarsteig long-distance hiking trail toward Hoheleye. After a short stretch on Federal Highway 236, the ride continues on Trail A3, which offers continuous views of the Lenne. The route then proceeds through Neuastenberg and along the R47 bike path, which leads the bike tour back to Winterberg, thus completing the loop.

Safety guidelines
An emergency stop system has been installed throughout the region (Soest District, Hochsauerland District, Märkischer District, Olpe District, and Siegen-Wittgenstein District). You can find emergency stops on the information signs at the intersections of the South Westphalia bicycle network, among other places.

Of course, you should also take a detour to the Kahlen Asten during the hike and enjoy the beautiful view.

Public transit
You can reach Winterberg quickly and comfortably via Interregio service. For example, there are hourly connections from Hagen and every two hours from Kassel. The trip from Dortmund to Winterberg and back takes just 104 minutes. There are at least six departures per weekday and twelve on Saturdays and Sundays. Information about the railroad’s door-to-door baggage service is available at all DB ticket offices.
