The Vogelrunde (red) in the Willingen MTB route network is characterized by a well thought-out network and precise signposting. This allows for flexible tour planning, where the route and individual route length can be adapted. The routes are designed for active riding pleasure and require mountain bikes for optimal use. Visitors may also encounter hikers or other road users on sections of the route. A refreshment stop along the route rounds off the experience.

Information

Directions

The route of the red bird is designed for beginners who would like to cycle for a little longer and so the route continues slightly downhill via the Große Grube coal pile across the Lütteke field to the "Am Streit" refuge. Here you have the option of following the route of the blue bird or biking the red bird as planned.Shortly after the refuge, the red bird leads us to the right across the "Neuer Hagen" high heath nature conservation area. At the end of the heath area, the route returns to a firm path and the managed Hochheide Hütte with its wonderful view of the Hochsauerland is already on the left. If you don't want to take a break, follow the red bird on the right to the Langenberg, the highest mountain in NRW. After reaching the highest point, the route continues along the Langenberg in an easy descent. On this descent, we cross the Sonnenlift and have a wonderful view of Willingen. At the next lift, the descent is a little steeper, so the brakes should work well and the children should be made aware that there may be hikers on the way and that they should adjust their speed accordingly.

Equipment

We recommend a helmet, functional cycling clothing suitable for the weather, rucksack provisions, sufficient liquid (water, tea), air pump, repair kit and multi-tool.

Author Tip

Before the tour starts, the kids can make a detour to the landscape playground or the Hochheide tower.
