The Lauschpohl cycle route opens up the so-called "Bauernland", a region characterized by 18 independent villages. This fertile high plateau reveals far-reaching panoramic views over fields and extensive woodlands. The circular tour offers the opportunity to experience this picturesque landscape and immerse yourself in its rich cultural history. Along the route, a total of 13 of the 20 Sauerland "Lauschpöhle" - interactive audio stations - offer an encounter with exciting and touching stories about the region and its inhabitants. The content ranges from historical insights into churches and villages to rural life and regional legends and fairy tales. The crank to activate the audio stations is an attractive, participatory element. Numerous country inns and cafés along the way invite you to take a break and enjoy some culinary delights.

Information

Directions

You start this challenging tour at the timber and tourism center. After a short climb through the town towards Wormbacher Berg, you cross the mountain and head towards Wormbach. The first stop is right by the Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul, which you can combine with a visit to the Hawerland bakery Rittmeier or the Hawerländer Wirtsgut inn to take a closer look at this listed church building. You then cycle along a cycle path to the entrance to Ebinghof, after a left turn you enter the forest and then along beautiful meadows to Berghausen. There you can make a short refreshment stop at the Heimkehof inn. The tour then leads above Oberberndorf along the "Kohlhagen" mountain to Niederberndorf. After a long but challenging descent, you finally reach the village.ATTENTION: Between Berghausen and Niederberndorf, a descent along a gravel path requires your full attention. If you are unsure, we advise you to dismount and push here. You now reach Cobbenrode via Oberlandenbeck and Henninghausen. The Stertschultenhof, an agricultural farm first mentioned in 1310, which is now used as a museum, is a little way from the tour on the edge of Cobbenrode, but is definitely worth a visit. If you are looking for a place to eat, the Hotel Henneman in Cobbenrode is the perfect place for a short break.Leaving Cobbenrode in the direction of Bracht, you have a long climb ahead of you, but thanks to the e-bike assistance, you will quickly get over it. After a relaxing descent, you now cycle around the village of Bracht. In Bracht, you can grab a bite to eat and recharge your batteries at the "Das Bustaurant" food truck. After riding around the village, you return to Hawerland and pass through the villages of Werntrop, Selkentrop and Felbecke before riding along the Rennefeld airfield, between Wormbach and Werpe, back to Wormbacher Berg. Finally, there is a descent through the center of Schmallenberg to the start and finish point, the timber and tourism center. Two challenging climbs, one in the middle of the route and one towards the end, require you to "divide" your battery capacity well - take advantage of the refreshment stops along the route to recharge if necessary.
