The cycle tour "From Lippstadt to Mastholte" starts at the Kuhmarkt in Lippstadt, near the historic town hall square. The route first leads to Lipperode, where you can discover the imposing ruins of Lipperode Castle. This former Lippe moated castle, first documented in 1248, with its remaining walls, moats and ramparts, bears witness to a once strong fortification dating from 1605 to 1609. The route continues and passes the Alberssee lake, which invites you to linger in the warmer months. Another important stop is the "Freie Stuhl". This historic triangular stone, situated on a sand hill on the Boker-Heide Canal at the intersection of three municipalities, bears the coats of arms of the Lippe rose, the eagle with the initials WAGzR and a diamond coat of arms with the Bavarian lion and the letters CABiP. It marks the site of a former feme court, whose serious history contrasts with today's idyllic landscape. The Mastholter See lake offers another opportunity for a rest close to nature. From there, the circular route leads off the beaten track through Bad Waldliesborn back to Lippstadt. On the way, you will come across the pilgrimage church of St. James, which is located directly on the famous Way of St. James. The entire route can also be started flexibly from Bad Waldliesborn or Mastholte.
