MTB - Rüthen Forest Tour No. 41

MTB - Rüthener Waldrunde No. 41 starts at the Hachtor and leads through the historic town center of Rüthen, past the site of the former town castle. The route then runs along the Borgberg and through the valley of the Kitzelbach stream. After crossing the B 516 and the Möhne river, the tour heads east, parallel to the Möhne, before plunging into the picturesque Biber valley, where the forest adventure trail begins. From there, the trail climbs into the Rüthener Stadtwald forest and follows a ridgeway that provides extensive views of the regional landscape. The route continues to the Brilon town forest and changes to the Upper Biber Valley before descending again into the Möhne Valley. After another crossing of the B 516, the route leads up the Hengelsbach valley until it reaches the historical border to Büren, marked by an old Schnadstein stone. The route then turns below the Immenköpfe ridge, passes the junction to the Kneblinghausen Roman camp and shortly afterwards reveals the extensive paddocks of the renowned Wittekindshof stud farm. The route continues northwards, bypasses the Meiste industrial estate and finally follows an established cycle path back to the starting point in Rüthen town center.

The mountain bike tours of the Bike Arena Sauerland are checked twice a year.

By train to Lippstadt, from there bus connection to Rüthen.

From the north: Hanover-Nord junction via the A2 towards Bielefeld/Dortmund as far as the Bielefeld junction - A33 towards Paderborn as far as the Salzkotten exit, then take the L776 towards Büren/Rüthen

From the south and east: Take the A44 Kassel-Dortmund to the Büren/Rüthen exit, then take the L776 towards Rüthen

From the west: Via the A44 Dortmund-Kassel, exit Anröchte onto the B55, after approx. 8 km turn left onto Effeln - Menzel - Rüthen
