The mountain bike tour starts in Winterberg and heads south uphill. The route leads along a high-level path through sections of forest towards "Hohe Seite", followed by a largely downhill section to Hesborn. From there, a mountain ridge is passed, which leads to a challenging descent to Medelon in the Orketal valley. The Orketal valley runs through the Vildischer Grund to the Ehrenscheider Mühle mill; along the way there are opportunities to stop for refreshments or a break in the charming natural surroundings. The return to Winterberg includes a section with a noticeable ascent, whereby a short section has to be overcome by pushing before the Bremberg is reached. This circular tour presents a multi-faceted terrain profile.

Public transit

You can usually reach Winterberg quickly and easily by train. From Hagen, for example, there are connections every hour, from Kassel every 2 hours. The journey from Dortmund to Winterberg and vice versa takes just 104 minutes. Six times per working day or twelve times on Saturday or Sunday. Information about the door-to-door luggage service is available at all DB sales outlets.
