The MTB - Willingen Trail Quartet No. 45 is a professionally designed mountain bike tour that opens up the charming border region between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse to experienced cyclists. The route combines demanding fitness levels with technical challenges and offers impressive panoramic views throughout. The start leads from the biathlon facility and Diemel spring to elevated vantage points such as the "Auf'n Knoll" mountain and the Kruttenberg. Here you can enjoy far-reaching views over the Medebach Bay, the Kellerwald National Park and the Hessian border region. Technical trails, over prominent points such as the Toten Mann coal pile, characterize the route into the Strycktal valley, supplemented by specific descents. The challenge intensifies with the ascent to the Hochheide plateau "Neuer Hagen", where rooty passages and the Biggestein downhill demand precise riding technique. The tour reaches the Langenberg, North Rhine-Westphalia's highest point. From here, fast gravel descents lead into the Hoppecke valley, accompanied by views of Willingen from the lift route. Sections along railroad tracks and through overgrown paths lead into the continuous ascent to the Hoher Eimberg. Its ridge path offers an extensive view, followed by technical serpentines. A refreshment stop is available on the tour. The final section circles Schwalefeld, includes a final ascent to the Orenberg and concludes with challenging trail descents to Willingen, with the transition to passable roads requiring increased attention.
