The Ore and Water Tour, a family-friendly circular tour, starts in Bestwig and first follows a former railroad line, known locally as the "Bähnchen", via Heringhausen to Ramsbeck. This historic route was once used to transport the ore mined in Ramsbeck to Bestwig. A visit to the Sauerland visitor mine allows you to ride the original mine train. There, knowledgeable miners provide in-depth insights into the history of ore mining. The route then continues through the picturesque Valmetal valley to Bödefeld, leads via Westernbödefeld to Remblinghausen and then reaches the Hennesee vacation village in Mielinghausen. The route runs along the eastern shore of Lake Hennesee, with the option of experiencing a section in a relaxed manner on board the MS Hennesee. Bicycle transport is available on this route. Starting from the Hennedamm, the route continues to Meschede, where the tour integrates into the course of the Ruhr Valley cycle path. In Velmede, renaturalized sections of the banks of the Ruhr and benches located there offer opportunities to relax. The final section leads cyclists back to the starting point in Bestwig.
