The Pengel-Anton route from Belecke to Soest represents a transformation of historical infrastructure. Originally used as a railroad line from 1899 to 1960 for passenger transport and until 1970 for freight transport, it was known locally in the Möhne valley as the "Pengel-Anton" or "Kiepenkerl". After the tracks were decommissioned and dismantled, the trackbed was redesigned and has served as an established cycle path since 1985. This family-friendly route makes for a delightful exploration of the Soest region.

If you cycle the Pengel-Anton cycle path from Brilon to Soest, you cycle with the gradient.Between Belecke and Lake Möhne, the different landscapes of this region become clear.The route leads downstream along the Möhne to Lake Möhne. From Wamel, the route climbs gently up to the Haarstrang. Here you have wonderful views of Lake Möhne and the Arnsberg Forest. The highest point is reached in Echtrop. A magnificent view of the Soester Börde opens up. Then you roll along the former railroad line into the Hanseatic town of Soest.The town offers many possibilities.A return journey on the cycle bus is possible on Sundays.

A stop at the Mülheim battle is always an experience for children.


The old railroad carriage at the former Sichtigvor station can often be visited on Sundays.


On the ascent to Echtrop, benches invite you to take a short break with a view of Lake Möhne.


There are various places to stop for refreshments along the way and in Soest.
