Plettenberg: History tour XS

The tour includes a large number of monuments as well as other cultural and historical attractions. The majority of these sites are equipped with informative history boards from the Plettenberg History Trail, which explain the historical background. This circular tour offers a variety of refreshment stops along the way. The route passes various points of interest, although it should be noted that not all sections run along dedicated cycle paths. Compliance with the road traffic regulations is mandatory; cycling is not permitted on a few short sections and requires you to push your bike. The starting point of this circular tour is in the center of Plettenberg, in the immediate vicinity of the pedestrian zone. Optional refreshments are available in the local restaurants before starting the tour. The route first leads towards the Böhler Church and the St. Laurentius Church, followed by a passage through the town center and the pedestrian zone. The route then continues along the River Else to where it flows into the River Lenne. From there, the route follows the Lenne cycle path to the historic bridge over the Lenne. After visiting the center of Eiringhausen, the tour continues along the Lenne to the Waterkant and over a charmingly situated bridge. The tour ends on the former narrow-gauge railway line, past the café stop, back to the starting point.

The route passes a number of interesting places, not all of which can be reached on cycle paths. Please observe the road traffic regulations - there are a few short sections where cycling is not permitted and therefore you have to push the bike, and the tour is recommended for children if they can manage short sections in traffic.

There are several ice cream parlors, cafés, restaurants and snack bars along the route in the town area and in Eiringhausen for refreshments before, during or after the tour.

The starting and finishing points can be reached via MVG line 54 or via Plettenberg station.
