The museum railroad tour in Plettenberg offers a delightful exploration of the Märkischer Kreis district, combining cultural and historical aspects with the experience of a regional cycle tour. A historic railroad viaduct marks the transition to the route and the stop of the former Plettenberger Kleinbahn. On selected days, two further stops of the Märkische Museumseisenbahn enliven the route, complemented by the carefully restored Hüinghausen station, which offers an authentic museum experience with its facilities. There are various places to stop for refreshments along the route. The circular tour begins at Plettenberg station. After passing the small center of Eiringhausen and a pedestrian tunnel under the railroad line, the trail leads along the Lenne to the Waterkant and over a picturesque bridge. The route then briefly follows the historic railroad line of the narrow-gauge railroad, which leads to the former stopping point with a restaurant. From there, the tour integrates into the Else cycle path, which accompanies cyclists for long stretches. In the "Köbbinghauser Hammer" industrial area, the cycle path branches off to the left and after a moderate incline, the terminus of the museum railroad, the Köbbinghauser Hammer stop, is reached. The route continues through the industrial area and along a smaller road to the village of Köbbinghausen. This is followed by a scenic path along the museum railroad line to Hüinghausen station of the Märkische Museumseisenbahn. After exploring the station area, the route returns to Köbbinghausen, where the cycle tour turns left this time. After a short downhill section, you reach the Seissenschmidt stop on the museum railroad. From this point, the cycle path leads past various forging and scaffolding companies and then runs alongside the River Else. After a few kilometers, the tour leads back along the foot of the Hestenberg over the old Lenne bridge to Plettenberg station, where there is the opportunity to stop for refreshments at the end.
