Information

Directions

Our tour takes us in the direction of Korbach and after Usseln we turn right before an inn in the direction of Welleringhausen. In the village we turn left and after the Bömighauser See we reach the village where we turn right uphill to Rhena. In the center of the village, we cycle left to the village of Schweinsbühl. We stay on the road until we reach Benkhausen. Here, at the entrance to the village, we turn onto a tarmac field path that takes us to Flechtdorf. We keep left before turning right into the mountain. The road leads us to Wirmighausen. In Adorf, we head towards Diemelsee until after the village of Rhenegge, which we can only see through a bypass. Here we take the exit to the left to get to Sudeck. Via Sudeck we head towards Giebringhausen. We cross this village and follow the road to Stormbruch. At the end of the village, we ride over the hill to Bontkirchen. The climb up the small side road provides an impressive and lasting view of the Diemelsee, which is only touched on this tour. The main road leads us to Willingen. But, as we want to cycle on side roads, we cycle to Schwalefeld. At the first houses, we turn left up the Orenberg, a small forest path that we already know from mountain biking. But don't worry, this path is also asphalt.

Equipment

Wearing a bicycle helmet should be a matter of course for all cyclists. Before setting off, check that your bike is in perfect condition. For demanding tours, we recommend packing plenty of drinks and snacks.

Safety guidelines

A rescue point system has been installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerland district, Märkischer district, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found on the information boards at the junctions of the South Westphalia cycle network.

Author Tip

A detour to the Hochheide Tower in Willingen is well worthwhile.
