The SauerlandRadring, a themed cycle route, opens up the region via the main towns of Finnentrop, Eslohe, Schmallenberg and Lennestadt. A significant extension is the HenneseeSchleife, which establishes a natural connection through the picturesque Wennetal valley to the Ruhr valley, the district town of Meschede and the Hennetalsperre dam. The concept of a circular route allows for flexible access at various points, enabling individual route design. The HenneseeSchleife currently still has the signage of the SauerlandRadring-Nordschleife. Along the route, there are many reminders of the history of the railroad. These include preserved signal systems, buffer stops and historic wagons and steam locomotives, which offer an authentic insight into bygone eras. Another outstanding element of the tour is the famous Kückelheim bat tunnel, which complements and enriches the nature experience in a special way. Along the entire route, cyclists will also find numerous places to stop for refreshments and rest.
