The Märkische Cave Trail

The Märkische Cave Route is a designated bike route in the Märkisches Sauerland. It was planned and implemented with the support of the ADFC and the participating local municipalities. This themed route leads to the region’s most notable caves: the Balver Höhle and Reckenhöhle in Balve, the Heinrichshöhle in Hemer, and the Dechenhöhle in Iserlohn. Balve and Iserlohn are designated as starting points. Along the route, the path is marked with the “Märkische Höhlenroute” logo. Information signs provide details about the caves, including via augmented reality featuring the characters Gloria and Massimo. There are places to stop for refreshments along the tour.
