At the beginning, the route leads leisurely but steadily uphill through the Hoppecke valley. Along the border between Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia, the route leads over the Hillekopf to Küstelberg and on to Elkeringhausen. A few kilometers later, you reach Winterberg, the second center of mountain biking and winter sports in the Sauerland after Willingen. There are of course a number of places to stop for refreshments here. The route then heads downhill to Niedersfeld. After the ascent to Ochsenkreuz, the bikers come to the tranquil village of Bruchhausen and ride below the Bruchhauser Steine over the Rhine-Weser watershed. Here it's almost done: the last few kilometers are on a slightly ascending forest road back to Willingen.
We recommend functional, weather-appropriate cycling clothing, rucksack provisions, sufficient fluids (water, tea), air pump, repair kit and multi-tool.
