The Alme Cycle Path opens up a scenic area along the Alme Valley, which stretches from Brilon to Paderborn-Schloß Neuhaus. The route combines historic towns and natural sections that offer numerous cultural and natural sights. The starting point is at the market square in Brilon, a historic Hanseatic town. From there, the trail leads through the Alme valley, past the sources of the river, which springs from a number of individual sources. The route reveals the beauty of the river landscape, most of which is a nature reserve. Along the way, you will come across places such as Büren with its baroque Jesuit church and the associated college. Another striking building is Wewelsburg Castle, Germany's only triangular castle, which rises imposingly above the Almetal valley. The route also passes the old railroad bridge near Salzkotten and the historic Mallinckrodthof farm. Before reaching the destination, the Weserrenaissanceschloss Neuhaus with its extensive baroque garden, there is the option of a detour into the city center of the episcopal city of Paderborn. The continuous marking with blue signs bearing the inscription "Alme cycle path" ensures clear orientation from the source of the Alme to where it flows into the Lippe.
