The City-Country-Lake Tour is a moderately difficult cycle tour that requires a solid basic level of fitness. The starting point is at the parking lot of the Diemelsee tourist information office in Heringhausen. From there, the route leads along Kirchstraße towards the striking barrier wall of Lake Diemel. The route then follows the Siekesweg out of Heringhausen, crosses a picturesque high valley and heads towards Rhenegge. After passing Rhenegge, the route continues to Adorf. Following the Arolserstraße, you reach a more challenging ascent on the Heimberg. Once you have mastered this ascent, there is a descent via Wirmighausen to Helmscheid, the northernmost district of the district town of Korbach. After crossing the country road, a rapid descent leads towards Korbach, a town that has established itself as a two-time Hessentag town and an important Hanseatic city. The tour bypasses Korbach on the left before reaching the former southern railroad station, which is an excellent starting point for a subsequent exploration of the historic city center. This route is a delightful combination of nature experiences at the Diemelsee lake and cultural discoveries in historic Korbach.
