The Haarstrang represents one of the most striking landscape borders in Central Europe and consequently presents itself in a distinctive natural diversity. The circular tour opens up with sweeping views over Lake Möhne and the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park. A visit to the Drüggelter chapel is a cultural enrichment. Before the challenging ascent to the Haarstrang, there is a public bathing area with a sunbathing lawn in Delecke for refreshment. Not far from the Haarweg is the Bismarck Tower near Delecke, a building that once served as a memorial to Prince Otto von Bismarck and has been used as a viewing tower since 1987. After crossing the B516, the view sweeps far into the Soester Börde, which is used for agriculture and wind power generation. The route continues north of the Haarstrang and passes through various villages in the municipality of Möhnesee. The Kleiberg pasture landscape, characterized by semi-wild horses and cattle on the site of a former military training area, is an interesting encounter with nature. The return via the Haarstrang follows the Pengel-Anton route, a former railroad line that once stretched from Soest to Brilon. Finally, there is another extensive view of Lake Möhne before reaching Körbecke. Along the route, various restaurants in the local communities invite you to stop for a culinary break. The Haarstrang tour can be thematically linked with three other routes on Lake Möhne - the "Dam Wall Tour", the "Great Lake Möhne Tour" and the "Pulpit Bridge Tour". Access to these routes is possible at any point; the routes are signposted throughout and can be cycled in both directions.

Directions

The best place to start - and finish - the tour is Körbecke, the main town in the municipality of Möhnesee (parking lot at the Haus des Gastes). From here, we head west along the Daiwesweg, past the cemetery, always halfway up the hill. Shortly before Westrich, the route climbs steeply towards Haarstrang. Rewarded with sweeping views, we cross the main road (take care here) and cycle downhill to Theiningsen. Cycling northwards, we reach the Wierlauker Weg and pass the Millennium Mamma waymark. Again and again we can enjoy "art along the way", waymarks created by local artists, scattered in the beautiful landscape. As we continue, we pass the districts of Wippringsen, Büecke, Berlingsen and Bergede, from where we return to the south side of the Haarstranges via Echtrop to Stockum along the former "Pengel Anton" railroad line. From there, the tour continues at roughly the same altitude back to Körbecke and again offers a wonderful view of the Westphalian sea, Lake Möhne.junctions: 66 - 98 - 95 - at Bergede direction 69 - 66
