QuerFeldLand from the Soester Börde to the Ruhr

The QuerFeldLand premium cycle route, from Welver to Wickede (Ruhr), is part of an overall route that connects Welver with Fröndenberg/Ruhr. It links the Römer-Lippe-Route with the Ruhr Valley Cycle Route by taking cyclists through the Soester Börde, Haarstrang and Ruhr Valley natural areas. The route integrates characteristic elements of the rural area, which ensures an authentic regional experience. One thematic focus is on agriculture, which can currently be experienced at twelve farms. These provide comprehensive insights into agricultural production, from arable farming and animal husbandry to energy production (biogas, photovoltaics). Direct marketing of regional products as well as the touristic and gastronomic diversification of rural farms, for example through farm cafés, are also presented. Information boards at the route stations provide information about the special features of the farms. Farm tours and discussions with farmers are possible by arrangement. Numerous places to stop for refreshments and farm stores with regional products round off the experience.

The starting point of the premium route is connected to the local public transport network via Welver train station. Regional train 89 connects Welver with the towns of Soest and Hamm (Westphalia) every half hour. There are connections to national rail services here. Wickede (Ruhr) station at the end of the premium route offers the option of returning to the start of the route in Welver by train - with changes in Schwerte (Ruhr) and Hamm (Westphalia). Further rail connections are available in Werl and at the end point of the entire route in Fröndenberg/Ruhr. In Ense, the regional bus network offers the option of getting to Wickede (Ruhr) and via Werl to Welver.
