Racing bike - Schmallenberg Eight

The 'Schmallenberger Acht' road bike tour starts in Schmallenberg. After a challenging climb from Grafschaft to Winkhausen, there is a long ascent through the Sorpetal to the Großer Bildchen, a scenically impressive passage. The Kahler Asten, one of the highest elevations in North Rhine-Westphalia that can be ridden on a road bike, is reached via Altastenberg. The route leads via Neuastenberg with a brisk descent into the Odeborn valley, where a phase of recovery follows until Dödesberg. This is useful before the subsequent steady ascent to Albrechtplatz. A remarkable descent then awaits cyclists. A stop at the parking lot behind the top of the pass offers sweeping views that invite you to linger. The rest of the route is characterized by serpentines that are reminiscent of alpine passages. From Oberkirchen, the route follows the route of the annual "Rund um den Wilzenberg" road bike race to Grafschaft, the traditional start and finish of this event. The Latroptal valley offers a period of recovery as far as Fleckenberg before a challenging climb to Werpe. The following kilometers through the Haverland and sections of the SauerlandRadring present themselves to Dorlar in predominantly undulating terrain. From Dorlar, the route climbs continuously into the Henne valley. After reaching the Rimberg, striking serpentines lead down to Bad Fredeburg. From there, there is a final descent along the former railroad line of the SauerlandRadring, which leads back to the starting point in Schmallenberg.
