The Bestwig Valley Road Bike Tour includes challenging climbs as well as extensive, flatter sections in the Elpe, Sorpe and Ruhr valleys. Challenging elevations such as the Große Bildchen and the Rimberg near Bad Fredeburg characterize the route. The route section from Meschede to Bestwig follows the Ruhr cycle path and allows for effective recovery.

A rescue point system has been installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerlandkreis, Märkischer Kreis, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found on the information boards at the junctions of the Südwestfalen cycle network.


The road bike tours of the Bike Arena Sauerland run on roads where motorized traffic is to be expected.
