The road bike tour starts in Marsberg with a challenging prelude that provides an immediate sense of achievement with a speedy descent to the Aabachtalsperre dam. Up to the village of Thülen, the route then presents itself largely without any gradients worth mentioning. A striking challenge awaits cyclists before Bontkirchen, where there is an extended ascent towards Battenberg, followed by an equally significant descent that paves the way to Bontkirchen. The following sections include a series of moderate climbs that blend harmoniously into the landscape. The route leads deep into the Diemelsee Nature Park and opens up the picturesque Itterbach Valley, where the historic Schalenburg Castle stands as a testament to times gone by. The route winds its way through Willingen with a striking Schwenke through the town, passes the train station and continues along the L251 to Usseln before joining the K65. The highest point of the entire route is reached before Rattlar, offering far-reaching views. An extensive flat section then leads to Diemelsee. Along the banks of the lake, there are always charming panoramic views that invite you to linger. The final flat section takes cyclists back to the starting point of the circular tour in Marsberg and rounds off the cycling experience. Refreshments are available along the route.
