Information

Directions

After the start at Willingen railroad station, an approx. 5 km long roll-in section leads us to Brilonwald, using the hard shoulder, before a 1.4 km long ascent to the Rhine-Weser watershed follows. At the top, we see the "Feuereiche", which sparkles in the sunlight. This was the site of a prehistoric place of worship; today the Rothaarsteig crosses the road here.

Equipment

Wearing a bicycle helmet should be a matter of course for all cyclists. Before setting off, check that your bike is in perfect condition. For demanding tours, we recommend packing plenty of drinks and snacks.

Safety guidelines

A rescue point system has been installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerland district, Märkischer district, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found on the information boards at the junctions of the South Westphalia cycle network.

Author Tip

A detour to the Kahler Asten is well worthwhile.
