Racing bike - Wenden short

The "Wenden Kurz" road bike tour, designed as a circular route, allows a flexible start along its course. Due to the recurring, sometimes significant gradients, the route makes demands on the physical condition of cyclists due to the topographical conditions of the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park and the Bergisches Land Nature Park. The section from Möllmicke to the Wendener Hütte initially has a moderate profile. The first substantial ascent begins at Hillmicke. There are further challenging climbs before the villages of Halbhusten and Benolpe, the overcoming of which is balanced out by subsequent downhill sections. The stage from Eckenhagen to Konradshof again requires a concentrated riding style and muscle power. Near Nespen, there are also glimpses of the Wiehl dam and striking graywacke quarries. The rest of the route opens up the region via Nosbach and leads through the Benze and Binsenbach nature reserves. Finally, the tour leads via Rothemühle and Ottfingen before returning to the starting point in Wenden after crossing the highway.

A rescue point system has been installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerlandkreis, Märkischer Kreis, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found on the information boards at the junctions of the Südwestfalen cycle network.

The road bike tours of the Bike Arena Sauerland run on roads where motorized traffic is to be expected.

There are no train stations along the route. A limited journey is possible by bus. The nearest train station to the starting point is in Kreuztal.
