The Little Tea House in Bad Sassendorf has a multi-layered history. Originally, the building served as a soap and soda factory under the management of the von Viebahn family. In the mid-19th century, the building was converted for use by the local salt industry and a chemical factory was established for around a decade. After this operation ended, the premises housed the first children's bathhouse of the Bad Sassendorf children's sanatorium. Located directly in the spa gardens, the historic site currently offers a selection of exquisite tea and coffee specialties as well as homemade cakes and pastries from its own patisserie. Emphasis is placed on the use of high-quality regional and seasonal products. Outdoor dining on the terrace completes the offer. This development characterizes the location in the spa gardens and underlines its importance as a historical excursion destination.
